Good Morning from my quiet little home.
This morning, I was invited to join some friends at a restaraunt to chat, catch up… You know how we do with friends that want to meet and be present with one another.
It was going to be a busy day so I pretty much put the invite on my “Maybe I’ll be there” response”. Today came and sure enough I had forgotten, what with walking the dog, going to the gym, and rewarding myself with my usual Starbucks drink. As I was turning out of the Starbucks drive, I suddenly remembered the gathering and said to myself, “I should go.”
So, I park in front of the place and walk in; I look for my friends, and as I am doing that this guy walks up to me and says, “You have a drink purchased somewhere else and we want you to leave, especially because it’s Starbucks.” WOW. I have taken a Starbucks drink into other restaraunts and they have never said a thing about my drink… Just smiled and wished me well. But this place threw me out. Loudly. I asked if I had offended them and he replied, not me but get out.
I don’t think I will ever go back there.
It seems like being snarky is a growing message. And, it’s often blamed on the youth but the youth I’ve encountered don’t treat each other like pond scum and they still open the door for ladies like my dad always did.
I am thinking that these young people make a good example for the adults. Not all adults, but some good learn a thing or two from the younger generation.
Life is not all about money and business. Life is about people first and then well fair. We use to be that way. Let’s not lose touch with kindness.
May your day have nothing but kindness; and may that be all of actions toward each other.
Best…
C Temple
